Day 240!
---
A Good Day
by Jim Burns
Hell, who wants to write poems
when there's pea-soup waiting?
A good day for both, really,
the wind cold, and the rain
drizzling down.
Come to think of it, a good day
for making love, too.
What decides the preference?
(poems, pea-soup, or an afternoon
in bed with a willing woman)
Age, maybe, or an appreciation
of what's involved - the keeping
up of strength, etc.
OK, then, settle it,
write the poem,
eat the soup,
and go to bed,
the order determined by a desire
to end with a bang.
