Yay! :w00t: I logged in today to find I'd been awarded my second DD- this time for my poem The New Bridge. I'm so pleased - particularly because I'm very happy with this poem overall- and I worked hard on it.

A big piece of :cheese: and five freshly baked :cookie: :cookie: :cookie: :cookie: :cookie: for the lovely *fllnthblnk who suggested the DD and big thanks to ^StJoan who featured it. I will try to find the time to do something lovely for you both very soon. Thank you also to everyone who has faved and commented on the piece so far... in honour of my DD I will do my best to actually reply to my comments for once. :sheepish:

And here's an oddity... both of my DDs feature ivy and spiders among their imagery... clearly I should write more poems involving these things. :D

Dance with me!

(Are you dancing?)

Weird...

it's all over.

Somewhat of an anti-climax, as these things tend to be. I felt I was flagging towards the end of the year... I had my mind on other projects. But overall, I think I really benefited from writing a poem-a-day- my writing improved hugely and I think good poems came out of the whole thing. Now I need to take some time now to center myself - a bit of a break from the whole poetry thing - some time to complete some of my other projects - and deal with some personal issues. Then I'm going to review these swathes of poems... edit edit edit... and start sending things off to magazines - start getting myself out there.

Thank you all for you comments, favourites and general love and support. I'm sorry I haven't been much of a commenter or even replier of late... I've been a bit stressed and preoccupied. Let it be known that I have really appreciated all the love. I have a few people I'd like to extend special thank yous to- *TheObviousChild, for all her enthusiasm and support, ~DancingNaked for her crazy loveliness and *fllnthblnk for the cookies. Also, =oddlyaromatic, ~seantastic, $pachunka and ~SilverHare- if it is not obvious already, I love you all dearly.

Day 262!

SILVER TRAILS NO SNAILS
by Pat Ingoldsby

The snails' silver trails
wandered and glistened
all over the morning path.
Silver trails which simply
petered out in the middle
of nowhere.
There wasn't a bloody snail
to be seen.
Did they all do a vertical
take-off or what?
Or did they all switch off
their little silver spreaders
and creep away chuckling
secretly to themselves?
"Tee Hee Hee
you can't find me."
I wish they'd tell me
how to do it.
I feel a bit that way
at the moment.

Day 240!

---

A Good Day
by Jim Burns

Hell, who wants to write poems
when there's pea-soup waiting?

A good day for both, really,
the wind cold, and the rain

drizzling down.

Come to think of it, a good day
for making love, too.

What decides the preference?
(poems, pea-soup, or an afternoon
in bed with a willing woman)
Age, maybe, or an appreciation
of what's involved - the keeping
up of strength, etc.

OK, then, settle it,
write the poem,
eat the soup,
and go to bed,

the order determined by a desire
to end with a bang.
