A trip to the hospitalI'm visiting St. Vincent's with Angie,  nice girl, but not much brains,  a pretty thing, a gentle rain-  she's not my daughter or my niece,  just the girl I get to help me out around the house.   
The corridors are stark and white,  like the road to heaven, but with too much light  and too much disinfectant.   
She wheels me up in my chair,  then I hobble up the stairs-  some things never change,  I'm still afraid of elevators.   
And the rooms that I walk by  whisper with the weight  of places where people go to die-

The New BridgeA machine torn straight from the pages  of the War of the Worlds,  it has dug claws into the soil of old Dundrum  and hunkered down on its haunches.   
St. George's Bells peel its arrival.  Spider on spider on spider,  little feet disturb hairs  on the back of my hands,  and ivy sinks first roots  into concrete - the webs we weave,   
the bridges new lovers build for each other,  rigging stretches to the sky  and wind plays the cables like a harp.  It is like a beached ship, you whispered.  Before it landed here on our small planet  a sail of purest whitest e The New Bridge

February 17th     Whale Concert  Maze, Fin, Goose, Droplet  Singing in the Echo Mountains  There will never be another one like it   
 
 
Poem 2   
is Silver the only one awake  in the warren?   
a starless night  owls prowl and foxes  wow-o-wow-o-wow  across the fields   
her sisters dream  of spring  fields fresh with  grass and clover

Day 365The grains on the strand are not the same today,  the cells in my blood,  yesterday a breeze shivered down the stalks  of the vegetables that grow limp on my plate,  and the meat was lowing and pawing at gates,  I don't want a part in this Caucus race. Day 365

BPfuck it.  i needed chocolate, you know?   
so i walked and i walked   
and i walked some more, until i came upon  a "teen" center for "teens" which was very cool -- WE would have LOVEDit.......bunch'a hipsters with hoodies hangin' out lookin' cool, feelin' all cool with their cool haircuts and skinny jeans (OMGGIRLFRIENDEATSOMETHING!). i breezed by the place, realizing how long ago 17 years old really was/is, that if i attempted to go in, they all would think that i was a NARC or something......so i kept walking, not singing at all. i usually sing. but not today. nope. just a steady left right left. right left. & BP

There is a momentThere is a moment of unsurpassed peace  that happens only while driving.   
This moment happens  on a very hot day,  when the sun is trickling  back over the horizon  and clouds of grey  drift slowly downwards  to alleviate the scorching plastic  of the dashboard.   
This moment happens   while coasting downhill, windows agape  as the wind whips through the car  in steamy gusts.  Left arm hanging  from the rubber window ledge  fingers grazing  the metallic stovehot metal  of the car door with every crack and judder.

Yay! :w00t: I logged in today to find I'd been awarded my second DD- this time for my poem The New Bridge. I'm so pleased - particularly because I'm very happy with this poem overall- and I worked hard on it.

A big piece of :cheese: and five freshly baked :cookie: :cookie: :cookie: :cookie: :cookie: for the lovely *fllnthblnk who suggested the DD and big thanks to ^StJoan who featured it. I will try to find the time to do something lovely for you both very soon. Thank you also to everyone who has faved and commented on the piece so far... in honour of my DD I will do my best to actually reply to my comments for once. :sheepish:

And here's an oddity... both of my DDs feature ivy and spiders among their imagery... clearly I should write more poems involving these things. :D
